Check out the federal tax credits that are available.

Exciting new tax credits are now available for residential and commercial building owners who install geothermal heating and cooling systems.

For homeowners, the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 extended the tax credits until Dec. 31, 2016, for geothermal heat pump systems. In February 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 removed the maximum credit amount for all eligible technologies placed in service after 2008.

For business owners, the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424) offers a credit of 10% of the total investment (no maximum) for a commercial system installation.

Check for details and the latest information on these incentives. Consult your local tax professional for advice on taking advantage of the tax credits.
